Ross Haul

Today I went to the gym for the first time in FOREVER, while I was there I realized my shirts are really thick cotton and way to hot to where in our gym (no A/C) especially as we are coming into Summer. So it was off to our local Ross to grab a couple of things to hold me over until I lose a little bit of weight and can fit into my "normal" clothes again. I had originally picked out 5 shirts but then realized they were $19.99 each, and I couldn't justify spending that much on something I'm hoping to only wear for 2-3 months so I only got 2.
This one is Converse and super thin.

And this one is NIKE and it's thicker than the Converse but thinner than some of the shirts I have now.
Whilst there I ran across a couple of other things I 'Needed' and grabbed those too...
I wanted a pair of shorts that would fit me right now, because I don't have any that fit and we are starting to get 80-85 degree weather everyday and with the humidity, it's hot.

I also went through my draws the other day and got rid of a bunch of stuff some of which was panties,  I am planning a trip to Ala Moana at the end of April so I will go to Victoria's Secret but for now these will do nicely.

I also wanted a new pair of PJ's because my other 2 pink ones got dyed by my blue jeans and so they look old when I only got them about 4 months ago. This is a tank top with full length pants.

Film Friday: Divergent

I saw a preview for the movie Divergent on March 20th and thought "I really want to see that movie, but should probably read the book first" so I bought the book in iBooks, on sale for $4.99 I might add, and got reading. Next thing I know I look up its 5 hours later and I had finished the book! Needing to know what happened next I got the 2nd book and got to reading, again finished in 1 sitting, so on to the 3rd book, this time I stopped reading at about 2:30 am and finished the next morning. I was actually really glad that I had ready the books the day before seeing the movie because it was still fresh in my mind so I would be able to see some of the discrepancies between them.
I grabbed my usual combo, 1 bottled water, 1 small popcorn, and 1 hotdog, put on my sweater, organized my food box, (here in Hawaii the movie theater always gives us boxes to put our concession stuff in so we don't spill), and got ready to enjoy what would surely be an amazing movie.
22 minutes after the lights dimmed we were still watching previews, now don't get me wrong I love watching previews, but 22 minutes worth is a bit much for any movie goer. After the movie finally started I noticed right away that it was going to be a long haul through this movie, it is a very stop-go type of movie. What I mean by this is the first 60 minutes drag painfully by, and then the next 40 minutes seem to go past like it was 2 minutes, then the final 40 minutes again seems to slow down and drag by again, almost to the point that your begging for it to be over.
I thought 2 hours and 20 minutes was far too long for this movie, as well as the script focused more on the slow story between Tris and Four and then sped through the actually interesting part of the Abnegation take down. They also changed a few things, (probably to expand Kate Winslet's role), like the fight in the control room Jeanine Matthews was not there in the book.  They also didn't do a very good job of explaining the Factions, and why they existed as well as why they were fighting amongst each other, I say that because Don saw the movie with me and since he hadn't read the books was quite confused on why certain things were happening.
As far as acting goes I thought Shailene Woodley did a good job especially with her fight scenes, Theo James was kinda perfect for Four, but Jai Courtney kinda threw me a little, not because of his acting he actually played his character perfectly, I just kept thinking wow he looks so much like Macklemore, almost like they wanted Macklemore but couldn't get him so they dressed Jai to look like him(I think its the hair that gets me). Kate Winslet always surprises me when she plays the bad guy because she is so good at it, yet I want to believe she is good, (probably my love of Titanic).
All in all I think this is an OK movie, I wouldn't tell a friend to see it in theaters, but if they really wanted to spend the money I wouldn't try and stop them either.
A Quick Note: If you plan on seeing this movie I would recommend reading the books first because the movie can be a little confusing on why the are choosing Factions, and why Jeanine Matthews want to kill the Abnegation.

Wet n Wild Fergie Review

In my last DrugStore Haul I said I would do a review of the Wet & Wild Fergie line, when I think of Wet & Wild I always think of "Tween" makeup because its very cheap, probably the cheapest makeup in my local drugstore, as well as the quality has never been that great.
I purchased the Shimmer Palette in Rose Champagne and the Eye Primer in CA027 For All My Primas.
Lets start with the Eye Primer, when choosing it at the drugstore I got a little confused because their was 3 different shades to choose from, yet all 3 said they dried clear, so why would you have 3 shades if they all dry clear? Then when I got it home and tried to open it, it was like the most difficult package EVER!!! It looks like the cardboard should slip out of the plastic holder, but its actually glued together and both the cardboard and plastic is thicker than normal, in the end the plastic ripped open before the cardboard.
Before opening it I did notice that the primer is in a squeeze tube but has a flat top so you can actually stand it up on your counter top rather than laying it down, which to me is important as I don't like a messy looking counter. The tube is very sleek looking with the solid black and the silver writing, I actually like the tube better than my Urban Decay Primer tube.

When I finally went to use it a squeezed the tube and just oil came out because the product had separated which means its been sitting for to long, but I massaged the tube and got mixed again. So I again squeezed the tube and the first thing I noticed was the smell coming from the product, which is very similar looking color wise to the Urban Decay Primer, but the smell was like burnt plastic. I thought maybe I had imagined it so I washed my hands and squeezed again, and again there was that smell! It concerns me that this product has such a horrible smell to it because we are putting this on our eyes which has some of the thinnest and most sensitive skin on our body as well as sometimes product gets in the actual eye. I applied the primer, which took FOREVER to dry, I did my entire face meaning primer, foundation, concealer, bronzer  blush  and highlight,  and this product was still damp! When it finally dried I noticed it was not clear it was the same  color as it was when it cam out of the tube, but I'm not to concerned about that. I intentionally wore dark colors in order to see if there is a lot of creasing, I'm sorry to say there was, it was almost like I didn't wear primer at all.
So all in all I would skip this product and get something that may cost more, but will actually do the job.
That same day I used the Shimmer Palette, and this I admit has become my Holy Grail Highlighter! Although the packaging on this is AWEFUL, it is so big and bulky you can't really take it with you but it gives the most beautiful shimmer without making you look glittery, and it doesn't powder like crazy either. My favorite highlighter WAS the Smashbox  Soft Lights, which is smaller, but it powders the second a brush hits it, where as this one doesn't. Also the highlight actually lasted the day, I used it on my brow bone, cheek bone, and inner corner of my eye and it looked beautiful all day. I would TOTALLY recommend this product!

Workout Wednesday

For todays Workout Wednesday video I thought I would do my 10 Minute Yoga DVD, because I woke up with a little bit of a cold and was hoping for a little boost to help me get through the day, unfortunately I didn't get that boost and I stopped doing the yoga like 30 seconds before the DVD ended so I was sick and felt like a failure, (ha ha ha.)
But I am planning to film another one on Saturday after I do STAT Saturday but for now here is the video....

TV Tuesday: The Blacklist

I have been obsessively watching The Blacklist all weekend and I cannot stop myself! This show has so much intrigue, drama, and provides the occasional laugh, but where it really excels is in acting. James Spader plays Raymond Reddington, a former US agent turned FBI fugitive who turns himself in after decades on the run, but he will only cooperate with agent Elizabeth Keen, played by Megan Boone. After proving his value to the FBI they take him on as a criminal informant, each episode usually deals with a different "bad guy"but they have the season long story line running throughout each episode too.
I have been a massive James Spader fan since the late 90's, he has always been able to play the bad guy, as well as the good guy, but he makes the perfect bad guy, with his cool demeanor and his ability to always have the perfect "sarcastic tag line" to every situation they end up in.
I highly recommend this show to anyone looking to get "Sucked In" to a new show, but it can be a tiny bit gory (i.e. The Stew Maker Episode) from time to time so keep any kids at bay.

Film Friday: 3 Days to Kill

Todays Film Friday is 3 Days to Kill. I went and saw this last week in theaters...lets get started.....

Who's in it?
Kevin Costner, Hailee Steinfeld and Amber Heard.

Whats it about?
A CIA agent finds out he has 3 months to live, so he quits his job and moves to France to spend his last few months with his wife and daughter. suddenly Amber Heard shows up and tells him that if he gets her The Wolf (a bad guy), she has some sort of treatment that will give him more time. So he agrees all the while trying to juggle his ten daughter who is angry at him for not being around when she was growing up.

What did you like about it?
I liked being able to see a little bit of Paris, as well as Kevin Costner.

What did you not like about it?
I didn't like Amber Heard I feel like her acting is so forced, she was trying to play the sexy assassin that Angelina Jolie would have been able to do in her  sleep, but Amber just made it seem so forced and almost like she was demanding that he think she was a sexy assassin ha ha ha.
I also think the story line could have been a bit tighter, there were some parts that I thought seriously no one would react that way, so a different actress and a little better writing a it could have been AMAZING.

Would you recommend it?
I would, but REDBOX it. I feel almost robbed spending $30 to get in to the movie and then another $40 at concession, but on the plus side I did see a preview for another movie with Kevin Costner and Jennifer Garner that looks really good, its called Draft Day.

Tutorial Tuesday: How To Save A Dried Out Macara

I think every girl out there has reached in her makeup bag and grabbed her mascara only to find out it has gotten a little clumpy, and sometimes completely dry, so I thought I would show you a quick money saving trick that a lot of makeup artists use.

You will need your dried out mascara
Eye drops (I used Visine)

If your mascara is really really really dried out you will want to start with 8-10 drops of your eye drops straight into the bottle of mascara, then close the mascara and shake it up and down or tap it against the palm of your hand. Then open the mascara and pull the wand in and out quickly several times.

Now check your mascara, does it look like a normal mascara or is it still a little dry?
If it's still dry add another 3-5 drops and repeat the process.

It should at this point be ready to use again, if it isn't you can repeat the process again but if it still isn't ready for you then sadly I think this mascara is done.

I hope this helped you guys, and look foreword to next weeks tutorial. Leave a comment below saying what you would like next weeks tutorial to be about.

TV Tuesday: Game Of Thrones

So todays TV Tuesday is Game Of Thrones, which I always end up called The Hunger Games for some reason. I have been a fan of this show since the beginning I hadn't read the books but now I have gone and purchased them and I am currently on book 3.

Who's in it?
Theres about a million people on this show but here is a few.... Peter Dinklage (who is my fav on this show and in general amazing), Emilia Clark, Kit Harington, Lena Headey, Richard Madden, and Sean Bean.

Whats it about?
This show must be followed closely as its actually about a lot, first is the age old story of several nobel families fighting over the iron throne (literally an iron throne), and then there is the White Walkers, this things give me nightmares and yet I don't really understand them ha ha ha.
The way the show is set up it reminds me a lot of the Romans and the "Wall" that divided England from Scotland.  In Game of Thrones they have the wall in the North to keep the Wildlings and now the White Walkers out.
And then there is of course the usual love stories, except in this show they apparently never heard of "Happily Ever After", case in point the Red Wedding.

What do you like about it?
Being the total nerd that I am, I love the fantasy aspect of it, I love that theres dragons, and seers, and wargs. I also love the writing they keep you hooked the entire time and then when the episode is over you want to rematch it just so you can stay in the seven kingdoms a little longer.

What do you not like about it?
Actually nothing...if I had to pick something it would be HBO's distribution of it. I know this is something that has had a lot of controversy surrounding it but I also see both sides...
a little background, Game of Thrones is the most pirated tv show in the world, so HBO decided they would wait to distribute it on places like Amazon and iTunes, until it had aired in all countries. The problem with that is they still sell the season pass so a lot of people buy it thinking they will get a new episode every time one airs, sadly thats not the case they actually have to wait almost 1 year after it airs in the US before it becomes available. I know that HBO is trying to protect their property but it seems like it would make more sense to air the show at the same time rather than airing it separately throughout the year. Also if you have a subscription to HBO GO you can still pirate the show so really they are just stoping paying customers from getting the show in a reasonable time frame.

Would you recommend it?
YES!!! This is a much watch show, I can't remember who but someone said it's The Sopranos meets The Hobbit (or something close to that ha ha ha), and it is so much fun, with so much drama and intrigue, but it is quite violent so be prepared for that and DO NOT let young children watch.

Music Monday: Katie Morgan

Welcome to Music Monday, every Monday I will post a song or artist that I have been loving that week.
This week is Katie Morgan, I am completely OBSESSED with this girl and her voice. She is really hard to find right now as far as buying music, but if we are all a little patient and encouraging I'm sure we will have something from her soon. My favorite song from her is Run Away, this is one of the songs that you just cannot stop singing and her voice again is so amazing, and so distinctive, as soon as her music starts you know exactly who it is.
My next favorite song is Could Have Been. Her voice in this song is very bluesy-jazzy sounding and in a way reminds me of Amy Winehouse, probably because of how different she sounds to all of the other artists out there right now.
Here is her Twitter, SoundCloudFacebook, and YouTube, so you guys can all go check her out and fall just as madly in love as I have and demand more Katie Morgan!

Film Friday: The Hunger Games Catching Fire

So todays Film Friday is on the Hinger Games Catching Fire.
I read these books as well as saw both movies in theater, and then purchased them on iTunes upon their release, for this movie that was last Friday.
Q&A:

Who's in it?
Jennifer Lawrence, Liam Hemsworth, Josh Hutcherson, Elizabeth Banks, Woody Harrelson, Philip Seymour Hoffman, and Donald Sutherland

Whats it about?
It is the sequel to the first movie The Hunger Games, its about a girl who after winning the 74th Hunger Games, has to go back in and once again fight to the death, alongside her "fiancé". And though she really wants to be left alone to live with her family in peace, the people of the districts are turning her into a revolution icon.

What do you like about it?
As mentioned above I did read the entire series, so its nice to see the books come alive. It's also nice to have more of a realistic Science Fiction movie and even though the heroine is able to kick some serious butt, she still bleeds, and even though she always overcomes, she does so with both physical and emotional scares.

What do you not like about it?
Obviously the thought of ones government taking peoples children and making them fight to the death just because they can and want to prove that is a scary thought, and is quite violent. But the movie was made very well and they don't really focus on the violence of, more of the Hope and Survival aspect.

Would you recommend it?
Definitely, though not to anyone to young, because it does contain violence.
I also recommend reading the books first because as always the books are better than the movies.

Workout Wednesday

So today is Workout Wednesday, I had planned on getting up early and doing a nice long 40 minute workout but Louis got his shots yesterday and wasn't feeling good last night, which caused me to be sluggish and lazy throughout the day.
But I thought I should still do something so I did a little bit (like 5 minutes worth) of the yoga I could remember from my class from 5 months ago, so here it is the epic yoga fail video.....

Tutorial Tuesday: How to repan a shattered eyeshadow

As you guys know I went to Salt Lake City to visit my mom in the beginning of December, while I was there one of my eyeshadows came open and got crushed in my suitcase. I was really disappointed because this was a brand new shadow from MAC and we all know they are a bit pricey. After I got home I was able to fix it and thought I would share it with you guys.

This is the before and after, it's not very "pretty" after but I was missing some of the eyeshadow, and lets face it as long as I can use it thats all that really matters.

You will need rubbing alcohol, a small spoon (mine is an espresso spoon), Q-tips (cotton buds), and your broken shadow.

You want to start off by pouring a little bit of the rubbing alcohol directly into your eyeshadow.

Then taking a Q-tip, start breaking up those pieces of shadow.

Then add more rubbing alcohol, you will need quite a bit, as you want a really wet constancy.

Then start mixing your shadow and rubbing alcohol together using a Q-tip. Make sure to scrap the edge of the pan with the Q-tip to get all of the powder wet.

The using the back of your spoon, smooth the eyeshadow flat. It's almost like frosting a cupcake, you just kind of swirl it around until it fills in the pan.

Sadly I didn't have enough shadow to fill the pan but it still able to be used just like any other eyeshadow. You will want to clean the edges and the outside before putting it in your makeup as it will indubitably have shadow on it.

See the video below for the full video tutorial.

TV Tuesday: Alias

As you guys know I'm not one for waiting a week or longer between episodes and prefer to get the full series on iTunes after it has ended, and thats exactly what I did with Alias.
I do remember seeing a couple of episodes when it first came out in 2001 but I was 14-15 at the time so wasn't to interested. But now that I am running out of shows to watch I figured we would give this a go.

So lets start with the Q&A:

What show did you watch this week?
Alias season 1.

Who's in it?
Jennifer Garner, Victor Garber, Bradley Cooper (I know I was surprised too), and Michael Vartan.

Whats it about?
A woman who has worked for the CIA for 7 years, and then after she tells her fiancé that she works for the CIA, they kill him because it was a "security breach" but then she finds out they aren't the CIA its actually the arch nemesis of the CIA. She then becomes a double agent for the CIA.

What do you like about it?
I like all the different missions she goes on and the mystery surrounding everything. I also like that Jennifer Garner does most of her own stunts it makes it more interesting knowing that she is actually fighting that guy.

What do you not like about it?

I don't like that we never know is her dad a good guy or bad guy the back-and-forth is exhausting, and it would be nice to have someone in her corner that she can talk to.

Would you recommend it?
Yes. I think its a fun and exciting show, and now that the series has been completed (in 2006), you can see the entire thing without waiting for new episodes.

Food Friday

I know I have missed a few weeks worth of videos here, but with Louis coming home it seems like the time just flew by, but at the same time I feel like I have been chasing puppies and cleaning up messes for the last 10 years.
But here we go...
I began with a simple bowl of oatmeal, this is the maple brown sugar and I added some Strawberries, Banana, Blueberries, and Almond Breeze Almond milk.

Don and I then decided to go see a movie kind of last minute, so at the theater I had a hotdog, with relish, ketchup, and mustard. A small Popcorn, no butter, and a bottle of water.

For dinner we decided to have leftovers, so I had turkey breast with chicken gravy and roasted brussle  sprouts.

For dessert I made Cherry and Banana Yonanas....it was fantastic.
