March Favorites

Who else is in complete and total shock that this is the last day of March? I honestly cannot believe how quickly this year is flying by, it seems like just last week we were talking about New Years Resolutions, and somehow all of the sudden we are four months into it, and we all gave up on our resolutions lol.
Well crazy or not, March is over and April is here to stay, so I thought I would share the random bits and bobs I've been loving this month.

Safeway Fancy Dried Apricots
SunSweet Ones Prunes
Cara Cara Oranges

And that is everything I have been loving this month! What were your March Favorites?

Leg Lifts

Back in 2010 I was really into being as fit as I possibly could, and I had a trainer that I worked out with for 30 minutes 5 days a week, just before working out with my trainer I would do 1 hour of cardio, so you now have a bit of background on my fitness, now fast foreword 6 years, and I am severely overweight, how this happened...let me count the ways...no I'm kidding, I won't bore you with all that.

I have very recently started to become quite obsessed with fitness again, and really taking my diet and exercise seriously. So I have started to incorporate some of the things I used to do with my trainer into my gym routine.

One of them is what she called the "leg lift" this is something you do in a standing position with a 15lbs weight. You aren't actually lifting the weight you are just holding it, the weight it really there just to help you balance, as you will be swinging one leg behind you whilst touching the weight to the floor, and keeping both knees as straight as possible.

This will really workout the back of your thighs, it won't seem that way as your doing it, but the next morning you will really feel the effect.

Rainbow Cupcakes

Today I made Pastel Rainbow Cupcakes, you can make the colors much more vibrant by adding more coloring to your mixtures, but since it's spring I thought the pastel colors were very "Spring" and a super fun and easy idea for Mother's Day baking!

For this I kept it super simple and used a box mix, and frosting, I then made the cupcakes according to the box directions.

After the mix was ready I separated it into four smaller bowls and added 2 drops of each color, except for yellow I added about 5.

After thoroughly mixing the color in, I poured the first color, Blue, into an icing bag, cut off the tip and covered the bottom of each cupcake tin. I then followed with green, pink, and then yellow.
Once done tap your pan on the counter to level out the batter, and then back at 350 degrees for 19 minutes.

Once your cupcakes are cooled you can frost them any way you like. I added a line of gel food coloring to my icing bag and then added in a scoop of frosting. As you pipe the frosting it will create a rainbow effect all on it's own.Or you can do plain frosting with sprinkles, it's all about what you want, so have fun with this.

Eating Meat Again

*****Update*****

You all may remember early this year I decided to become vegetarian, well today I have decided to incorporate meat back into my diet. The reason for me going vegetarian was pray moral, I love animals, and felt guilty eating meat, but going back to meat for for my health. As I have mentioned before my body struggles to absorb vitamins, because of that I take prescription vitamins, when I went off meat, I didn't plan it very well, I now 3 months later noticed my hair is very dry and brittle, my nails have completely broken off and are peeling like crazy, I simply didn't do enough research and planning with my doctor, on protein supplements.

I will for sure be going back to being vegetarian at some point but for now I am eating meat again. I am sorry if that offends any of you.

Easter OOTD

Happy Easter!!! Or Palm Sunday!!! Or Happy Chocolate Eating Day!!! lol. Regardless what you call today, today is a great day to sit back and relax, enjoy the moment, and create special memories with those you love.

Today we went to Portlock Beach, this end is quite rocky, but I prefer it because no one is ever here, the other end is sandy, and gets a handful of beach goers, which wouldn't be bad except for some reason Portlock has become the it "nude beach", and yet it's not a nude beach, and so I figured I would point my lens in the other direction, for their privacy, and our eyes lol.

Today I am wearing White Old Navy Boyfriend Shorts, which I love this series (boyfriend shorts), they have so many different kinds like distressed, cloth, denim, long, short, there are so many options in this range and yet they all cost the same, and are always comfortable.
I paired it with a navy blouse from New Look (Similar), I am quite sunburned on my neck and arms, so I wanted to make sure they were covered up today. The sleeves roll up slightly, which allows you to make it a bit more casual and pair it with say shorts :) I am also wearing my straw fedora hat (Similar), which I can't remember where I got as I have had it for 6-8 years.
For jewelry I am wearing my Anna Saccone Necklace, Wedding Ring, and $5 earrings from Target.

What did you get up to today? Also let me know if you like me taking my OOTD pictures in these locations, I wanted to try and take them somewhere new each time, so I can give you guys a bit of a look at Hawaii.

Morphe 35O Review

After hearing so many bloggers/vloggers praise the Morphe 35O palette, I decided to buy it, unfortunately due to the very high praise it seems it was always sold out, but I finally got my hands on one, and thought I would give you guys my thoughts.

Row 1

One of the first issues I have with this palette, is the eyeshadows powder very heavily, I actually can't even think of another eyeshadow that powdered this heavily. It is something that can be over looked, but do remember that with these shadows, apply your foundation after you've done your eyes, and be sure to tap off the excess on your brushes.

Row 2
While we are talking about the application of these shadows, make sure you prime your eyes, I had some issues with the shimmer shades creasing, but to be fair that does happen a lot with shimmer shades.

Row 3
Another issue I have with the application of these shadows is the darker matte colors can have a really muddled look to them, and it's not from lack of blending, it just seems like a lot of them turn to a muddy water look, and while some are not as bad as others, it really needs to be built up, but do it slowly, so add some, blend, blend, blend, add some more...and repeat.
I find it really irritating in a palette when you swatch something and it looks nice, because of the pad of your finger, or the oils on your finger you're able to pick up more product, but then the second you use a brush the color pay off really falls away.
Row 4
Finally the last issue I have is that it seems like some of the colors don't actually match once you use them. Which is so frustraiting! When you're doing your makeup in the morning, nobody has time, (or the desire), to deal with the shock of a shade looking different once applied.
Row 5

In the end, I wouldn't buy this palette again, which is really sad considering all the hype around it. I will say you do get 35 shades for less than $25, and some of the shades are quite nice, once you get around the fall down issue. I did want to mention the cost of shipping, I paid a little over $12 for the shipping of this palette, and I have to say that is incredibly high, especially when I just ordered a 200ML Emma Hardie Balm and got free shipping.

Have you tried this palette?

Stat Saturday

It has been far too long since I have done a Stat Saturday, and all excuses aside, it's time I step up. It's starting to get quite warm here in Hawaii, and I'm really starting to feel that "pool days" itch, but with that comes the swimsuit pressure :( But I have completely re adjusted my workout routine and currently feel super motivated, and sore from the crazy High Intensity Interval Training I've been doing. But fear not I am still incorporating a lot of cardio into my training as well everyday I try to do 30 minutes of cardio and 30 minutes of HIIT.
So because I have completely overhauled everything, including my meal times, and how I'm eating I'm not going to focus on the fact that I weighed in at 181 today, instead I'm going to focus on my training and my eating, as well as just living. The other day I took Louis to the park and the beach for a good old fashioned run around in the hopes that it would tire him out, because Charlie was having surgery and I wanted Louis nice and calm when his brother got home, but it reminded me, I live in the most beautiful place in the world, people pay thousands and thousands of dollars to come and spend just a few days in my hometown. So I have decided I'm going to start enjoying it, I want to get out more, go hiking, go snorkeling, and really just enjoy living in Hawaii because so few are able to say they do.
I'm hoping this new found love for my hometown will not only make my life here more enjoyable, but also by doing more activities outside, that means I'm spending less time sitting on the couch...

I would love if you all left me a comment telling me where your hometown/state is, and what sort of outdoor activities are available in your area.

Lush Easter Haul

I stopped into my local Lush today to see what Easter treats they had in stock, and lets just say I'm a little crazy about EVERYTHING they have this year and I thought I would share with you the items I picked out...

Bath bombs (Left-Right):
Which Came First (contains a little yellow bath bomb inside)

I then got the Flamingo Bubble Bar, which I know isn't exclusive to their Easter collection but it felt a little holiday esk to me.

I then got the Carrot gift set which came with the following:
Bouncy Bunny Shower Jelly (which feels a lot like holding jello lol)
Bunch Of Carrots Bubble Bar (it came with 3, an orange one, but I used it already)
Spring Bunny Bath Bomb (exclusive to this set, cannot be purchased separately)

I am so glad I picked all of this up, nothing relaxes me more than a nice hot bubble bath, and my skin LOVES anything that comes from Lush.

What is your favorite item from Lush?

February Favorites

I'm not sure how we are already so far into the new year, I feel like the day to day drama of life is stealing my days away lol...but I have finally gotten around to putting together my February Favorites for you guys so lets jump in...

More than likely you will get sick and tired of seeing this palette, but I honestly love it, I fell like it is truly the best palette that suits everyone, there are warm tones, cool tones, shimmer shades, and matte shades, who couldn't be happy with that, not to mention they blend beautifully!

Being a girl with very fine hair, I need mousse to create texture and volume, this mousse it AMAZING!! It's really thick without being sticky, and I can run it from root to end, without that crunchy-mousse feeling!

I love this toothpaste, I have used it for a almost a year now, and can honestly say I am in no way disappointed. You can even buy the separate booster polish and add into your brushing routine 1-2 times a week for extra whitening power.

I recently ran out of this face wash and could see that my skin was looking rather dull and dry compared to when I was using it, so I instantly reordered it, within days of using it again, my skin literally looked like it was glowing. I would recommend not using any type of motorized brush with this as it is a very grainy exfoliant, so that means no Clarisonic, Clinique, or Olay brushes.

As you all know I now have invisalign, which means I'm dealing with dry chapped lips, this lip serum has honestly saved my lips, I apply the entire bead (they come in 1 use beads), as the last part of my night time skin routine, and wake up with super soft moisturized lips!

This is probably my favorite brow item of all time, not only is it super quick and easy to use but it's long lasting both on and in the tube, I would say I buy a new one every month and a half to 2 months, and at about $17 that averages out very nicely!

I want to quickly mention while this is not a sponsored post, I do have an exclusive offer for you guys, anyone that purchases a Rodan+Fields skin regimen will receive the Rodan+Fields Lip Serum FREE!!! All you need to do is message Joanne here to place your order, once your order is placed Joanne will mail you the lip serum.

That is everything for this month, can't wait to dive into March and get my blogging schedule back on track.

Daytime Shimmer Glam Drugstore Look

Recently my sister Laura sent me a picture of a really beautiful eyeshadow look, unfortunately it was created using all Tom Ford shadow, YSL liner, and Mac fake lashes...being a mom of a 4 year old and two month old, she doesn't have the time or the money to throw at such a glam look so she asked me to recreate the look, but she wanted me to get rid of the fake lashes, use only drugstore products, and show her a really easy way to achieve winged liner.

So for this look you only need 4 items:
Scotch Tape

First apply the scotch tape from your bottom lash line toward your brow (watch the video below for a demonstration), then starting off with the first color in the palette step from your inner corner to the middle of your lid, dropping into your tear drop area. The using the third color mixed with the first color sweep from the middle of your lid to the outer corner. then using the second color sweep through your crease and blend to your outer corner.

Then using the Milani Eye Tech, draw on your winged liner, its totally fine to get it on the tape, its going to give you a real clean edge when you remove the tape.

Remove the tape, and using the second color sweep under your bottom lash line, and very lightly line your bottom water line with the last brown color.

Then very heavily coat the top and bottom lashes with a lot of mascara, this will give you the look of fake lashes, but without the hassle of applying and wearing them all day.

Clean up any fall down and along your wing with your foundation brush....and now your glam for the whole day!!!

My Meals Monday

I'm Back!!! I took a few days off blogging/vlogging due to some painful Invisalign issues, but I am back with my usual My Meals Monday post so lets jump in....

Breakfast:
Today I made it to the gym so I had already drank about 1/2 a 16 oz bottle of water, and am mixing it up a bit by having an iced coffee. I am having my normal oatmeal with raisins, cinnamon, and almond milk.

Lunch:
For lunch I went to Whole Foods and got a cheese pizza and a vegetarian minestrone, I was so excited for this soup, but sadly it wasn't great, as for the pizza I ate 1/2 and was so full I saved the rest for tomorrows lunch...but it was so good, I can honestly say Whole Foods makes the best pizza!

Snack:
For my afternoon snack I had another iced coffee, I honestly was far to full to eat anything but the coffee really helped pick up my energy.

Dinner:
For dinner I made a massive Caprese Salad, this was with baby field greens, cherry tomatoes, buffalo mozzarella, olive oil, and balsamic glaze.

Dessert:
Today I made a fruit salad and poured a naked mango smoothie over the top, it was amazing, and was the perfect ending to my day.

What did you eat today?
